How heat transfers work

A design is printed onto a carrier, then applied to a suitable garment or accessory using controlled heat and pressure. It’s a flexible way to bring group artwork to life—from a simple club mark to a colourful event design.

The essentials

From design to finished garment

Unlike printing directly onto the fabric, a heat transfer is prepared first and then pressed into place. We check the artwork, garment fabric and intended position before recommending a method.

01

Share your idea

Tell us what you’re printing, how many pieces you need and where the design should sit.

02

Check the artwork

We review clarity, colours and approximate print size, then confirm what works for the material.

03

Prepare the transfer

The design is produced on a carrier ready to be applied to the approved garment.

04

Press and finish

Heat and pressure bond the design to the fabric. We check the finish before the order is ready.

Finding the right look

Three ways to bring a design to life

The examples below show the kinds of artwork each method can suit. They are illustrative images, not finished SVP work or a guarantee of the exact finish.

Screen-printed transfers

Best to discuss for clean shapes, solid colours and designs with up to five colours, particularly for coordinated group orders.

Full-colour transfers

A useful option for multiple colours, gradients and designs with photographic or fine tonal detail.

DTF transfers

A versatile route for intricate designs and smaller runs. Suitability still depends on the fabric and print position.
